Dave’s Pro Pointer -
Eliminating “Fat” Shots

The main cause for hitting the turf behind the ball is that the player has failed to get to his/her
weight shifted to the left foot at impact. If your weight is still on the right foot, the club will
impact the ground
behind the ball resulting in  a “Fat” shot. One simple remedy is to make
sure you feel as though you can “take a step toward the target” with your right foot as you
follow through. In the picture to the right, notice how I have successfully transferred my
weight to my  left foot as the club impacts the ball. Get to this position and you will
eliminate hitting behind the ball forever!
