Natural Resources Group

The Natural Resources Group (NRG) was formed over eight years ago as an ad-hoc group of residents and country club members with the purpose of educating our fellow residents and members about Collier's Reserve's natural environment.  Our mission statement is as follows:
To work together to enhance the natural and wild areas within the boundaries of Collier's Reserve so that we may protect and preserve that remarkable quality of life we found here and that we may help ensure the future of Collier's Reserve as a highly desirable community.  The NRG is officially a part of the Homeowners' Association but also consults with the Country Club Board on an as-requested basis on questions concerning environmental issues.

Over the years the various members of the NRG have done many things, including writing numerous articles for the Newsletter, holding art shows which exhibited members' natural works, sponsoring a presentation by Florida Fish and Wildlife on Alligators, presenting "Nature Nights" which featured the wildlife photographs of Fred Scholtz, and arranging two back-country trips to Corkscrew Swamp to view areas of the Sanctuary seldom seen by visitors.  Members of the group are always ready to answer questions on anything that might have an environmental impact at Collier's Reserve, whether it is an injured pelican, a fish die off on one of our lakes, or a pair of screech owls that have taken up residence in a homeowner's eaves.
